Rehearsals have started for the first concert of the choral society’s new season, Handel’s ‘Messiah’, to be performed on Saturday 30th November at the Dolphin Centre.
The eighty-strong choir will be accompanied by the Mowbray Orchestra and soloists Ruth Jenkins-Robertsson (Soprano), Valerie Reid (Mezzo), Austin Gunn (Tenor) and Andri Bjorn Robertsson (Bass).
Members of the choir will also be singing in the Gala performance of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, ‘The Resurrection’, at Ripon Cathedral on 12th October with the St Cecilia Orchestra and Cleveland Philarmonic Choir.
The choral society’s future programme for 2020 will be Jenkins ‘The Armed Man’ and Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ in April, and Beethoven’s ‘Mass in C’ in November.
