Whether you are an amateur or a professional, it's time to show off your skills and bake for thousands of visitors to see. We're hosting a Coronation cake competition and we can't wait to see all your fantastic Royal-themed creations. Professional judges will be picking the winning cakes in the following categories:
• Professionals– for those who have a business selling cakes
• Adult 18yrs +
• 13-17 years
• 8-12 years (cupcakes)
• Under 8 years (cupcakes)
There will be a first, second and third prize in each category.
To take part please bring your bake to the marquee in the Market Place with a £2 entry fee between noon and 5pm on Friday 5 May. You do not need to have filled in a application form in advance.
Judging criteria for professionals, adult and teenage entries
1.Theme - the Coronation
2. Originality and creativity of design
3.Overall visual impact
4.Skills and execution of technique
5.Interpretation of the theme
6.Cake must fit within a base area of 38cm x 38cm (15" x 15") square. There are no height restrictions
7.Cake will be judged on taste, texture, uniqueness and overall appearance
8.Any edible medium may be used and wires, tape, ribbon and stamen are allowed. Internal supports and dummies are allowed.
Judging criteria for cupcake competition 8-12yrs and under 8yrs
1.Theme - the Coronation
2.A display of four decorated cupcakes adhering to the competition theme
3.Originality and creativity of design
4.Overall visual impact
5.Skills and execution of technique
6.Interpretation of the theme
7.Dummies are not permitted
8.Stands are permitted
9.Cupcakes will not be judged on taste, they are solely judged on appearance
10.Any edible medium may be used and wires, tape, ribbon and stamen are allowed.
