Darlington comes alive at Christmas and this year the celebrations are bigger, brighter and more magical than ever. The season begins with our show stopping Switch on event, filling the town centre with sparkle and festive cheer as we officially mark the start of the festivities. 

Explore the town through the return of our annual Ice Sculpture trail and take your seat at a panto at The Majestic Theatre or Darlington Hippodrome. From carousels and wreath making workshops, there is fun for all the family at Hopetown and their heart-warming Mrs Claus experience is perfect for younger visitors. 

Brand new for 2025 is Darlington town centre's Elf Discovery Trail, a playful adventure for families young and old to help track down the Elves lost equipment before stopping off at their workshop to take part in free crafts and meet some magical characters!

Christmas Markets

Celebrate the season with Darlington Market who will be hosting a traditional Christmas Market on December 6th and 7th. Browse a wonderful selection of handcrafted gifts, artisan bakes and unique festive finds before taking a well earned break in the street food hall.
